R&B Artist ‘Erica’ [VIP Butterflies]

미국 출신의 R&B 싱어송라이터 ‘Erica’의 데뷔곡 ‘VIP Butterflies’는 세련된 가사와 Lofi 사운드가 트렌디하면서 소울풀한 에리카의 음색과 맞물려 음악 팬들의 귀를 자극하는 R&B 장르의 곡이다.

The song is about feeling free and happy. Enjoying the summer weather and going for a nice ride on your motorcycle.

In the first verse, we are getting up, getting dressed, and getting on the motorcycle. We‘re driving through the mountains and feeling free. When I say that there is no backseat, I mean that you aren‘t carrying any passengers so you are free to ride however you want, wherever you want, and as fast as you want. If you have a pas-senger, you have to worry more about their safety and you have the extra weight on you.

"Miss those brick walls" talks about how I miss home. My house in the U.S. is made of red brick walls. "Crash land never fall/He loved me like a rocket" refers to my fa-ther who never lets me fall and is always there for me through good times and bad times.

I wrote the chorus when I was coming back from a trip to 양양 earlier this year. The atmosphere was very good on that trip and really made the beginning of summer feel like it had so much opportunity and joy awaiting me. "Swimming through pine-apple trees" is imagery for being surrounded by palm trees. "Summer cotton candy breeze" - clouds can look like balls of cotton candy. At the end of the chorus, I want to remind the people that I care about but haven‘t seen in awhile to not forget about me and to still care about me because I still care about them.

While verse one was about riding solo, verse two is more open to meeting friends. So this time, we are meeting other motorcycle rider friends and racing through the streets. Vroom vroom!

Overall, I wanted to write and sing a song that felt very free and reminded me of the good things of summer. And because I listen to music on my bluetooth while riding, I also wanted to make a song that I would actually listen to while riding my own motorcycle.

I named this song VIP Butterflies because I see my life going really upward from now on and I‘m excited and have butterflies in my stomach about it. VIP butterflies
