하이브-게펜 레코드의 글로벌 걸그룹 캣츠아이(KATSEYE)가 오는 8월 14일 세 번째 EP [WILD]를 발표한다. 지난 2년간 여정을 바탕으로 완성된 캣츠아이의 성장과 변화, 감각의 진화가 응축된 앨범이다.

캣츠아이는 [WILD]를 통해 ‘아름다운 혼돈(BEAUTIFUL CHAOS)’을 지나 도달한 한층 황홀하고 거친 매력의 세계를 파고든다. 보다 자유롭고, 더 대담하며, 내면 깊이 숨어있는 스스로의 모든 모습을 당당히 마주하고 유연하게 받아들인다. 그리고 그 ‘자기발견’의 결과물은 경계 없이 확장되는 사운드와 태도, ‘모든 버전의 나’를 있는 그대로 끌어안는 자신감으로 이어진다.

앨범은 총 다섯 트랙으로 구성됐다. 타이틀곡은 ‘Hootie Frutti’다. 첫 드럼 비트부터 태양이 내리쬐듯 뜨거운 에너지를 뿜어내는 곡이다. 브라질리언 퐁크(Brazilian Phonk)풍 퍼커션과 풍성한 팝 사운드 위로 묵직한 드럼과 재치 있는 가사가 어우러져 듣는 이들을 단숨에 매료시킨다. 음식과 럭셔리 코드를 교차시키는 유쾌한 플러팅이 더해져, 캣츠아이의 자신감을 오감으로 체험하게 만든다. 이들의 전매특허인 강렬한 퍼포먼스와 어우러질 때 더욱 폭발적인 시너지가 발휘되는 트랙이다.

화려한 프로덕션 라인업 또한 눈에 띈다. 하이브 방시혁 의장을 비롯해 세계적인 프로듀서진이 대거 참여했다. 더 키드 라로이(The Kid LAROI)·저스틴 비버(Justin Bieber)·할시(Halsey) 등의 곡을 작업한 오머 페디(Omer Fedi)와 블레이크 슬랫킨(Blake Slatkin), 글로벌 팝스타 에드 시런(Ed Sheeran), 로빈·찰리 XCX·아이코나 팝과 협업해온 파트리크 베르거(Patrik Berger), 아리아나 그란데와 레이디 가가의 음악에 참여한 조니 골드스타인(Johnny Goldstein)이 힘을 보탰다. 여기에 개성 강한 사운드를 선보여온 드윌리(dwilly), 프란츠(FRANTS), 톰 브리지스(Thom Bridges)까지 합류해 이번 EP의 완성도를 높였다.

Global girl group KATSEYE, formed through the partnership between HYBE and Geffen Records, released their third EP, WILD, on August 14.

Shaped by the group‘s journey over the past two years, WILD captures a period of growth, transformation, and creative freedom. Moving beyond the beautiful chaos of their last chapter, WILD leans into something more euphoric and untamed. Rooted in self-discovery, KATSEYE embraces every version of themselves, resulting in a project that feels open, boundless, and entirely their own. The EP extends itself across five tracks: “PINKY UP,” “Animal,” “Hootie Frutti,” “Bel Air,” and “That Way.”

The focus track, “Hootie Frutti,” is KATSEYE‘s strongest statement yet: fierce, sun-drenched, and dripping with attitude from the first drum hit. Built on rattling Brazilian phonk-inspired percussion and maximalist pop production, the track pairs hard-hitting drums with a playful, food-and-luxury-coded flirtation that turns confidence into a full sensory experience.

In addition to “Hootie Frutti,” the EP includes the edgy, high-energy hit “PINKY UP,” the bold, flirtatious pop anthem “Animal,” the bittersweet heartbreak of "Bel Air," and the sassy, playful confidence of "That Way."

The project features a standout lineup of producers, including Bang Si-Hyuk (HYBE‘s founder and chairman), Omer Fedi and Blake Slatkin (known for their work with The Kid LAROI, Justin Bieber, and Halsey), Patrik Berger (known for his work with Robyn, Charli XCX, and Icona Pop), Johnny Goldstein (known for collaborations with Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga), dwilly and FRANTS, and rising producer Thom Bridges, elevating the EP‘s overall quality and sound.

Anchored by atmospheric synths and pulsing, cinematic production, "Bel Air" unfolds like a slow sunrise. The lyrics look backward while the production keeps us moving forward into something unknown but hopeful. The song showcases KATSEYE‘s most vulnerable and mature vocal performances yet, balancing heartbreak with quiet resolve. It‘s less about the ending and more about the bittersweet feeling of holding both the good and the uncomfortable parts of growth at once.

5. That Way

Flirtatious, self-assured, and dripping with charisma, "That Way" is KATSEYE at their boldest. Built around a hypnotic, vocal-forward pop production, the track leans into tension and restraint. Every held note and breathy ad-lib does as much work as the lyrics themselves. It‘s a song about power dynamics and desire, but told entirely on the group‘s own terms: an invitation, not a plea.
